Introduction
Nail art is the practice of painting decorative designs on your fingernails and it is a creative way to enhance and embellish the nails. The training targets individuals who are interested in developing and enhancing their skills in Nail Art for personal or professional development.
This is also a type of artwork that can be done on fingernails and toenails, usually after manicures or pedicures. While the more intricate designs are best left to a professional, through this course you will be able to create simple nail art at home in a fun way to brighten up your everyday look or accessorize a special occasion.
It is a wonderful learning opportunity for anyone who has a passion for the skill, and is interested in potentially enjoying a long career in the nail industry, or for anyone who is already a nail technician that wants to enhance their knowledge and boost their career.
Justification
Historically, Nail art was a cultural and fashion expression to support one’s own identity, sometimes linking to one’s personality, moods and fashion sense. Primarily through the use of colours and shapes, nail art is used to influence everyday women and has become a major expressive subculture among both them and men.
The Nail Art Technology Training course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants within communities throughout the country. As well as, promote a path to employment or self-employment, whilst teaching the technical and artistic skills, along with the business acumen needed to succeed as a micro – entrepreneur.
Objectives:
The primary purpose of the Nail Art Technology Course is to train participants in the basic skills required to increase their personal and marketable skills as a Nail Artist. It also seeks to boost the establishment and growth within this trade and promote good work ethics, safety judgments, proper habits with a sense of professional business conduct.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Develop a professional attitude and knowledge to perform the basic manipulative skills required for manicuring, pedicuring, and various methods of nail extensions and enhancements.
- Transfer the knowledge and practical skills learnt, to perform a complete manicure, identify the tools required to demonstrate safe and correct handling.
- Exhibit the proper setup of a workstation, identify the different nail shapes while incorporating sanitation and disinfection requirements.
- Gain insight in new and current information related to techniques, trends, fashions, and methods for career development as a Nail Technician
- Apply the theory, technical information and related matters to assure sound judgments, decisions on procedures, and the importance of understanding client value and how effective ways to build a clientele.
- Equip trainees with the qualities necessary and tools needed to be successful when going into business and strategies on keeping accurate business records.
Entry Requirements:
Individuals interested in participating must be fifteen (15) years and over and possess:
- Two (2) valid forms of picture Identification (Identification Card/Passport).
- Proof of residence (non-nationals)
- A digital device and internet access for virtual learning.

Course Cost
Tuition is free of charge, but trainees are required to provide their own training materials and equipment.
Assessment Structure
A model of periodical in-course assessment coupled with a final assessment project is proposed for this course. Trainees will be assessed at different intervals over the training period as this helps reduce anxiety with respect to the finality of testing. This assessment method, therefore, enhances learning since trainees will be able to remediate weaknesses before each module ends.
