Mehndi Design MD1 – Wednesday & Thursday, 11:00am – 1:00pm

Introduction

Learn the art of detailing simple but beautifully created patterns whilst  getting familiar with  novel Asian and middle eastern designs. We first start with mastering the designs on paper and then move onto the person -hands and feet.application. 

This course will introduce details for a beginner to learn the art of applying mehndi,from the basic designs, to the most intricate design as a hobbyist or as a practicing artisan. Also, it  promotes an appreciation and understanding of the cultural significance of the patterns’ meaning and use. 

It teaches you not only how to apply original designs but also helps the  participants in understanding how to create a unique design by giving them knowledge of the components of a mehndi design.

 Motivation 

This course is designed to develop the participants with the knowledge and skills to equip them with the tools necessary enabling them to develop marketable skills, become employable, encourage entrepreneurial development and the use of best practices. 

Participants will be exposed to both theory and practical techniques; different types of materials/resources and equipment used in Mehndi.  

Objectives 

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the basic knowledge, skills and techniques required to become a Mehndi Artist either professionally or on a personal level. 

At the end of this course, participants should be able to: 

  • Understand the cultural significance of the art of Mehndi Design
  • Differentiate the various types and application of Mehndi Designs
  • Learn the art Mehndi – styles and techniques
  • Demonstrate and Create Mehndi Designs
  • Become Self- Employed

Entry Requirements  

Individuals interested in participating must be fifteen (15) years and over and posses:

  1. Two (2) valid forms of picture Identification (Identification Card / Passport / Driver’s Permit).
  2. A digital device and internet access for virtual learning.

Course Cost

Tuition is free of charge, but trainees are required to provide their own training materials and equipment.

Assessment Structure  

A model of continuous in-course assessment coupled with a final assessment project is proposed for this course. Trainees will be assessed at different intervals over the training period as continuous assessment is focused to reduce anxiety with respect to the finality of testing. This assessment method, therefore, enhances learning since trainees will be able to remediate weaknesses before each module ends.
