Event Decorations (ED1) – Tuesday & Thursday 4:00pm -6:00pm
Introduction
An event decorator is responsible for the overall atmosphere of the event. Event decoration is used to enhance an event for various occasions. Participants will learn the tools and techniques to enhance the features and experience of an event.
Motivation
This course is designed to develop the participants with the knowledge and skills to equip them with the tools necessary enabling them to develop marketable skills, become employable, encourage entrepreneurial development and the use of best practices.
Participants will be exposed to the techniques of decoration of an event, themes, budgeting, backdrops, draping, and designs.
Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the basic knowledge, skills, and techniques required to become an event decorator.
At the end of this course, trainees should be able to:
- Identify key design elements to enhance the event experience.
- Decorate for any event/occasion which includes the design, creation, decor installation and dismantle
- Devise a plan to identify, assess, manage and reduce risks as it pertains to event decor during the Covid-19 Pandemic
- Create a proposal inclusive of Budget that will use decor and design elements to achieve event objectives
Entry Requirements
Individuals interested in participating must be fifteen (15) years and possess:
- Two valid forms of picture Identification (Identification Card / Passport ).
- A digital device and internet access for virtual learning.

Module 5. | Centerpieces, round and freehand, Water-cylinder, fish bowls/Head table pieces (logs on table and logs running off the table) |

N.B. Each Module consists of two (2) classes/ four (4) hours
Course Cost
Tuition is free of charge, but trainees are required to provide their own training materials and equipment.
Assessment Structure
A model of continuous in-course assessment coupled with a final assessment project is proposed for this course. Trainees will be assessed at different intervals over the training period as continuous assessment is focused to reduce anxiety with respect to the finality of testing. This assessment method, therefore, enhances learning since trainees will be able to remediate weaknesses before each module ends.
