Beauty Culture (BC1) – Wednesday & Thursday 4:30pm – 6:30pm
Introduction
Beauty Culture is the art or practice of improving personal appearance through hairdressing, and cosmetic treatments. Participants will learn both theory and practical techniques, different types of materials/resources and equipment used in Beauty Culture. Additionally, they will be afforded the opportunities to equip themselves with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to generate an income and can allow them to become self-sustainable or start their own business.
Motivation
This course is designed to develop participants with the knowledge and skills that equip them with capacities and tools necessary to develop marketable skills for employment, encourage entrepreneurial development and the use of best practices.
The knowledge, skills and techniques acquired can also augment practitioners abilities as they conduct their carft as an Apprentice Hairdresser, Nail Technician, Barber or Make Up Artist.
Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide participants with the basic knowledge, skills and techniques required to become a beautician either professionally or on a personal level.
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate good personal grooming and attitude
- Apply principles and procedures of caring and enhancing the appearance of clients
- Demonstrate satisfactory skill in selected areas of beauty treatment
- Estimate purchasing and cost of items for small jobs
Entry Requirements
Individuals interested in participating must be fifteen (15) years and over and possess:
- Two (2) valid forms of picture Identification (Identification Card / Passport / Driver’s Permit).
- A digital device and internet access for virtual learning.

● Module 1: Introduction to Beauty Culture / Tools and Equipment; Health & Safety
● Module 2: Hair: Different Techniques of Basic Cutting of Hair
● Module 3: Hair: Different Methods of Trending Hairstyles
● Module 4: The Nail: Perform Basic Manicure/Pedicure; Basic Massage Techniques
● Module 5: The Nail: Repair Nails/ Application of Nail Art -Tips/ Styling
● Module 6: Facial: Plain Facial, Eyebrow Arching
● Module 7: Make Up: Application of Basic Make Up/Corrective Makeup
● Module 8: Final Evaluation/Assessment Assignment / Waxing: Basic Waxing – Legs/Eyebrows
● Module 9: Small Entrepreneur Development- Financial Management of Small Business
● Module 10: Final Evaluation/Assessment – Presentation of Portfolio/Videos
Course Cost
Tuition is free of charge, but trainees are required to provide their own training materials and equipment.

Assessment Structure
A model of continuous in-course assessment coupled with a final assessment project is proposed for this course. Trainees will be assessed at different intervals over the training period as continuous assessment is focused to reduce anxiety with respect to the finality of testing. This assessment method, therefore, enhances learning since trainees will be able to remediate weaknesses before each module ends.
