OVERVIEW
In this beginner class, you will learn how to make your own homemade bath and body products with amazing scents, have your own Spa experiences, gift your family and friends with luxurious and easy to make products, use your products as a means of de-stressing, all made inexpensively by you
The course will give you information and hands on training about oils, butters, fragrances and colours, so that you can easily create your own recipes; that you will be able to create a spa experience whenever you want using the ingredients of your choice, in the comfort of your own home, for a fraction of the cost of visiting a spa.
It also give you numerous suggestions for alternative ingredients, so that you can personalize your products and create your own recipes and some money saving tips.
Also you will be exposed to packaging ideas will enable you to create luxurious, stunning bath products that will look fabulous in your bathroom, and also make amazing gifts for family and friends.
The course consists of a combination of videos, practical sessions and notes that will support you learning about making bath and body products. It is designed with first time creative cosmetic creators in mind.
JUSTIFICATION
If you want to make bath and body products for a fraction of the cost of buying them and also want to make products to give as gifts to friends and family then this course may be a creative income saving approach.
This course is ideal for someone who makes soap and wants to add bath and body products to their skill range and offers step by step guide how to make your own range of spa products so they can create a luxury spa experience in the comfort of their own home.
The theory and practical sessions will also demonstrates what not to do in Melt and Pour as well Cold Press Soap Makin techniques This is creative hobby that requires very little start up equipment and with the knowledge and skills you learn, that will be able to make some extra money, or even start a small business .
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Individuals interested in participating must be fifteen (15) years and over and possess:
• A digital device and internet access for virtual learning.
• Individuals interested in participating must be sixteen (16) years and over possess:
• Two valid forms of picture Identification (Identification Card / Passport).
• Proof of residency (non-nationals)
• Proficiency in Mathematics and English Language.
• Possess basic kitchen equipment and molds.

- Each Module consists of two (2) classes/ two (2) hours per session
- Course duration – forty hours / ten weeks / twenty sessions (40hrs. /10 wks. /20 sess.)

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS:
Class discussions, PowerPoint, YouTube, demonstration, teacher modeling, group activities, peer feedback, and individual feedback, hands on assignments and practice.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The aim of this course is to provide participants with a professional level to basic knowledge, skills and techniques required for planting crops on a personal level to provide for their families.
At the end of this course, participants should be able:
- To create fabulous products like hair food, body butters, bath salts, face masks, body scrubs and many more.
- Understand several soap making techniques.
- To formulate their own high quality lotions and balms recipes
- Cultivated knowledge about what is hazardous to your body and how to avoid them
- To label, cost, price, and market your finished products towards becoming an entrepreneur from your own home, how to obtain and keep customers.
- Appreciate your creative genius while learning basic skin care science.
COURSE COST (Average Cost for Materials)
Whilst tuition is free of charge, participants are required to provide their own training materials and equipment. For participants undertaking this course, an estimated cost of course materials, tools and equipment ranges between One thousand, five hundred and three thousand dollars ($1,500.00- $3,000.00).
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE
A model of periodical in-course competency based assessment comprising of online questions and answers examination coupled with a final assessment project is proposed for this course. Participants may be required to work individually or in groups to do course based assignments.
They will be assessed at different intervals over the training period as this helps reduce anxiety with respect to the finality of testing. This assessment method, enhances learning since trainees will be able to remediate weaknesses before the course ends
CERTIFICATION:
- Certificates of Completion would be awarded to persons who:
- Successfully complete all Assessment exercises or quizzes. Minimum pass mark – 65%
- Successfully complete all assignments and portfolios where required. Minimum pass mark – 65%
- Maintain an attendance of seventy five percent- Minimum attendance – 75%
Participate in Compulsory Workshops – Micro-Entrepreneurship Start up, Digital Marketing and Branding, Financial Management Customer Service, Digital Photography.
ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY:
Participants must achieve a complete seventy five (75%) percent attendance to achieve the minimum certification level. Participants are expected to attend class and to let the instructor know by email if they have to be absent for any reason.
Although it is the responsibility of the Participants to drop a course for nonattendance, the instructor has the authority to drop a Participants for excessive absences.
A Participants may be dropped from a course for absenteeism after the Participants has accumulated absences in excess of 25 percent of the hours of instruction (including lecture and assignments)
PARTICIPATION:
Each Participants is expected to participate actively in class activities. Active participation involves coming to class prepared, responding to questions, and engaging in class activities and assignments.
Also participants must complete all assignments and in class/ online quizzes.
LATE SUBMISSION POLICY:
The instructor will provide specific due dates for all assignments. Late assignments will cause participants grade to be reduced.
HOMEWORK EXPECTATION:
Participants are expected to complete all homework assignments in order to achieve the learning objectives for this 10-week course.
ACADEMIC HONESTY:
All acts of plagiarism are not tolerated including: cheating, claiming one’s work as their own, fabrication and helping one to commit any of these acts. Any violations of academic honesty will receive strict disciplinary action. Possible punishments for academic dishonesty may include a grade of “0” or “F” or / and participant be dropped from the programme.
